A Star Wars party in a Star Wars attraction… take a look at how it was pulled together.
On Wednesday May 13th (sadly not May the 4th!) Madame Tussauds played host to the world’s media and a handful of celebs to launch the all new Star Wars attraction space. Armed with a brief from the Madame Tussauds PR team, a knowledge of the films and google, I worked up the concept of the Launch party.
As well as unveiling the brand new Star Wars attraction, it was equally important to us for guests to experience the glitz and glamour of Madame Tussauds. With this in mind we took guests on a journey through the attraction before re-creating the famous Cantina bar scene for guests to finish their evening in true Star Wars form. With a little (ok a lot!) of help from the fabulous team at Partridge Events the venue was transformed.
Upon arrival, a black carpet was laid out and the iconic John Williams sound track was playing. Guests were then transported through 400 years of London’s history on the magical Spirit of London Ride before being welcomed into ‘Film’ with a chilled glass of bubbly and a selection delicious canapés. The Glitz and Glam of Madame Tussauds then continued as guests were led down to the Grand ballroom of the World Stage where a delicious selection of bowl food awaited them (yes, still not a Stormtrooper in sight!).
Marvel’s greatest superheroes were then called upon to guide guests through the next part of the attraction which concluded with the Marvel 4D experience. As the show came to a close the auditorium was flooded with Storm Troopers to lead the guest through to the Trade Federation Bridge into the new attraction.
Off through Star Wars the guests journeyed visiting 16 iconic characters in 11 interactive sets including stepping straight into Yoda’s swamp and piloting the Millennium Falcon next to the infamous Chewbacca. As guests arrived in the final set of Star Wars a real life Darth Vader marched the guests to their final destination for the evening – the Cantina Bar!! As the Cantina band played away a number of their freaky alien headed friends roamed the bar interacting and dancing with guests to really create the feel of the cantina. Guests were invited to enjoy a drink in a dark and smoky atmosphere with the Cantina Band playing their catchy tune.
Food and Drink
Food by Dish provided a sumptuous canapé menu served in Film, which included chucked oysters and quail eggs benedict to name just a few. ‘Jabba the Nuts’ and ‘Light Saber Cheese Straws’ were left back at the planning stage!
After indulging in sumptuous canapés, bowl food of beef chimichurri and blood orange marinated scallops were served in the World Stage just before a refreshing English Garden cocktail and some amazing dessert canapés.
Guests were treated to further yummy cocktails served in chunky, heavy beakers whilst Star Wars shaped jelly treats were circulated in the Cantina.
During the evening, a camera crew negotiated the excited guests to create a fantastic video which showcases the highlights throughout the evening. Check it out now!
