The London Dungeon is an established fully themed and scarily fun venue which makes it one of the coolest event venues London can offer! All private event packages include a 40 minute Dungeon tour which brings together an amazing cast of theatrical actors, special effects, stages, scenes and rides in a truly unique and exciting walk-through experience.
The latest show to be launched in the London Dungeon is The Tavern where guests are transported back to a vibrant, decadent and dodgy pub in 1896. The gossip and scandal surrounding the local scoundrels, villains and working girls unravels around you in this brand new immersive space. I was tasked with organising the launch of The Tavern as an event space for Merlin Events on the 2nd March 2016. We invited 100 event professionals to the event which took place during the week of Confex.
Food by Dish have created a well-researched, authentic Dungeon inspired menu for events in The Tavern which was showcased during the launch event. Rustic nibbles were served on wooden board platters which were laid out on tables in The Tavern as guests returned from the tour. Black pudding scotch eggs, smoked salmon on soda bread with pickled cucumbers, Lentil & red pepper scotch eggs and giant Gruyere cheese straws were just a few options available.
To follow Food by Dish then flooded the room with Dungeon inspired bowl food. Guests enjoyed sausage and mash with crispy onions, fisherman’s pie with cheddar crust and cheese, spinach and red onion barley risotto – YUM! To top it all off, guests then enjoy sweet canape style treats served from wooden crates.
Ben Paris, Sales Manager commented ‘We at Food by Dish wanted to create a menu which suited the fantastic traditional ‘East-End Pub’ theme of the Tavern yet with a modern twist. Therefore Bowl food like ‘Sausage and mash with crispy onions and port jus’ & ‘Fisherman’s pie with a cheddar crust’ are in-keeping with such an unusual event space.’
Guests are already transported back to Victorian times in the fully themed space, and entertained by the brilliant actors so there really is no need to add any additional theming. The Dungeon inspired food and beer in tankards also add to the authenticity of the experience! For clients wanting that little bit extra I would suggest a Tarot Card reader or pickpocket magician.
Guests were greeted and escorted to the Gin Palace upon arrival by our cheeky Dungeon Jester where Gin Fizz cocktails were served. Shortly after, groups were lead off on their actor led–tour through live shows including Sweeney Todd, Mrs Lovett’s pie shop where guests could sample her infamous pies and Ten Bells Pub finishing with the drop ride to doom! Guests entered the Tavern picking up a tankard of beer or glass of wine before encountering the brash Landlord and Landlady who just love to talk about each other to anyone who will listen.
The Tavern is perfect for unique networking events, incentive trips and parties accommodating up to 120 guests. The space has integrated show lighting, sound and entertainment making it really easy to operate events. Twinned with the Riverside Rooms (located just above The Tavern), alternative sit down dinners and awards ceremonies are also perfect in this space.
